Pet Urns

Will you do commission work?

Yes, if you have an idea of a vessel you would like created – I am flexible!

How big of an urn do I need?

You will require a minimum of 1 cubic inch per pound of body weight of the deceased person or pet.  Within reason you can choose a somewhat larger urn should a particular wood or shape appeal to you.  Custom urns are available by request.  Do you have a tree in your yard, maybe a favorite of your pet?  We can use that special piece of wood from your tree for the urn.

Can you make something from my wood?

Yes, definitely.  If you have a piece of wood that has meaning to you or you “love” the look of it – let’s check it out!

I have a tree coming down - I would like a keepsake.

That’s great.  What you would like made, determines the size of wood you would need.  Let’s talk about options!  If you have a tree in your yard that has history, special meaning to you — let’s make something out of it.  Some items that have been made are:  bowls, vases, pens, goblets, boxes.

25+ years

I started turning over 25+ years ago on a ShopSmith.  That demonstration at the local Lowe’s store by Shopsmith had me hooked when they made a tulip while turning.

Since then I have been fortunate to take many classes with very talented turners like Jimmy Clewes, Kirk deHeer, Rebecca DeGroot and Nick Agar to mention a few.  Starting out many years ago with “dog dishes” – thick bowls to now making unique thin-walled bowls.  I enjoy making wall decorations, natural edge bowls, unique pens, lidded boxes, resin casting, hollowing, etc.

I enjoy participating in some charity projects.  Two of those are making Beads of Courage boxes and Wig Stands for cancer victims.
